A footstool regal enough for any equestrian palace! Featuring a bay stallion performing the Levade, a classic Aires above the ground movement. Although dressage has ancient roots, dressage was first recognized as an important equestrian pursuit in the West during the Renaissance. The Aires above the ground, such as the Levade, was first used for military purposes and later performed by aristocrats in equestrian pageants. This beautiful needlework footstool was inspired from a painting of the Spanish Riding School circa 1780. The top surface is made of 100% wool thread hand-crafted in intricate petit point. The bay horse is featured on a moss green background. The sturdy stool is a solid wood structure with a dark walnut finish. Edged by a braid and four tassels embellishing each leg. Spot clean surface. 10" tall, 13" dia.
